Healthcare
The intelligent approach to healthcare turns data into clinical and business insight for better outcomes.
The landscape
The healthcare industry now needs to perform on a more competitive, outcomes basis, shifting from fee-for-service to value based on quality and cost. Whether in the waiting room, the operating room or the emergency department, the time healthcare providers spend with patients is of the utmost value.
Instrumenting processes with insight in real time supports point-of-care decisions and productivity. Hospitals, medical centres and clinicians can work intelligently and intuitively by bringing seamless, patient-centred, holistic and proactive approaches into their interactions with patients, delivering better care experiences that emphasise prevention and wellness.
Challenges we see in this sector
Shift to value-based care
Reimbursement tied to outcomes requires data that most estates cannot currently produce.
Clinician time
Administrative load erodes the time clinicians have available for patients.
Access in rural markets
Scarcity of healthcare professionals limits monitoring and follow-up outside urban centres.

Wireless healthcare service — mHealthcare
We developed a wireless, ultra-low-cost pulse-rate meter that interfaces with a mobile platform and provides accurate readings. The portable device can monitor the pulse rate of critical patients at hospital or at home without a technician present, and the collected data can be sent to a general physician.
This may be a boon to rural markets where there is a scarcity of healthcare professionals.
Where connected devices apply
The same platform pattern serves three distinct segments:
- Sports and fitness — low-power wearables such as heart rate monitors and pedometers
- Home monitoring — wearable devices for personal emergency response systems
- Remote patient monitoring — glucometers, ECG and similar devices that collect data and send it to medical professionals
